EROSION CONTROL

Controlling the natural flow of water

Erosion happens when naturally-flowing water washes away (erodes) the material it's running over. This commonly happens in embankments, ditches, drainage paths, yards, landscaping etc. Clear signs of erosion often happen after a rain, and the most dangerous erosion happens close to foundations where the structural integrity is compromised.

EROSION CONTROL METHODS

There are many strategies to resolving erosion, including:

  1. Controlling the descending water through rocks, culverts, etc.

  2. Hardening the area it's flowing over with rocks, drainage fabric, barriers, etc.

  3. Redirecting the flowing water elsewhere, typically to a controlled or hardened area

CULVERTS

Culverts are typically used to facilitate access over a water way, without obstructing the water flow. Culverts are much less expensive than bridges, quicker to install and incredibly strong!
