The first and most important step is to understand the root cause and how to permanently redirect the water. The solution is often a combination of drains (French, trench, storm, etc.) to capture the water, then redirection (grading, downspouts, drywell, sump pump) to eliminate wet yards, standing water, muddy area's, leaky basements, pool liner basin challenges, wash-outs and more.
FRENCH DRAIN
French Drains provide a natural void into which groundwater can drain. After digging an 18"-wide trench to the right depth, we line it with non-woven geotex fabric, which allows water to pass through, but not soil. After laying the drain tile, the trench is back-filled with washed stone providing excellent water evacuation, powered by gravity.
French Drains are an ideal solution for perpetually wet, muddy yards, soft or swampy ground, or other areas.
TRENCH DRAINS
Trench Drains are commonly installed where water is running (or sheeting) across a solid surface, typically concrete or asphalt driveways, etc.
A properly installed Trench Drain is pitched towards the discharge end, and the solid surface is pitched down towards the Trench Drain (usually on both sides). This effectively captures the water and directs it towards the discharge.
