MECHANCIAL CLEANING - AJS Groundcare uses industry leading sand cleaning machines , tools & technologies to mechanically clean the sand by removing debris, which are then collected, hauled away and disposed of.

• As with any mechanical process the results vary based on the original condition and there are certain limitations based on physics, size of the debris, types of objects, etc. Something very small or intermixed contaminants (like dirt or mud) can't be separated from the sand.​

ADDITIONAL SAND - Adding more sand is often required to compensate for losses from the wind, water, etc. however smothering debris or vegetation only delays the inevitable. 

• AJS Groundcare frequently adds additional sand AFTER an initial cleaning and onsite evaluation.

ROTOTILLING - Often favored for the near immediate result, however all the organic material (weeds, roots, vegetation, leaves, etc.) is now chopped up and mixed into the sand, which then decomposes and perpetuates more weeds. Rototilling is not a viable option to remove weeds and should be avoided at all costs.

• AJS Groundcare will commonly use a rototiller ideally after cleaning to mix new & old sand, level the beach, on beaches with minimal (or no) vegetation to loosen or aerate the sand, etc.

CHEMICAL APPLICATION - An effective way to avoid vegetation growth, and widely used in agriculture, however typically not permitted near bodies of water. Similar to rototilling killing the undesired growth is helpful, but leaves the existing organic material in the sand.

• The use of chemicals, especially in areas with direct human contact, waterways (public & private) and recreation is closely regulated by the government requiring licensing and precise application when allowed, while being increasingly discouraged.
